The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea challenging a High Court order that rejected a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the matter of Krishna Janmabhoomi.

The Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging the Allahabad High Court’s order that rejected a PIL seeking the Uttar Pradesh government’s direction to acquire the Krishna Janmabhoomi Janmasthan in Mathura and hand it over to Hindus for worshiping Lord Krishna. The Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s decision, citing the already pending issue before the high court and discouraging multiple litigations on the same matter. The petitioner’s PIL was dismissed by the High Court due to pending suits. The Supreme Court clarified that the dismissal of the Special Leave Petition (SLP) does not comment on the parties’ right to challenge the vires of any enactment in the future. The petitioner, a devout Hindu, sought protection of his fundamental right to worship in the PIL. The High Court had transferred related cases to itself, involving issues of worship and the removal of structures at the Krishna Janmasthan. The High Court dismissed the PIL, stating that the issues were already engaging its attention in the pending suits.
