Courtroom Shock: Chief Justice’s Heated Remark During Bilaspur Airport Case Goes Viral

On May 7, Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha of the Chhattisgarh High Court was heard making a strong and unfiltered remark during the hearing of a long-pending Public Interest Litigation (PIL) concerning the establishment of a fully functional domestic airport in Bilaspur—a matter under judicial consideration since 2017.

The case was being heard by a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Sinha and Justice Arvind K Verma. During the proceedings, the Bench expressed clear dissatisfaction with the State government’s ongoing delay and its request for yet another feasibility report. The Chief Justice pointedly questioned the rationale behind the repeated assessments, urging the government to either proceed with the project or allow the Court to dispose of the petition.

In a moment of visible exasperation, the Chief Justice remarked,
“If there is a will, there is a way. If you want to make a vicious circle out of it, then… f*** off!”

Initially, the recording of the court proceedings was removed from the High Court’s official YouTube channel. A revised version, omitting the contentious remark, was later re-uploaded.
