Fatal Bus Accident Claims Lives of Three NLU Jodhpur Students, Several Injured

A tragic accident in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district claimed the lives of three students from National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur, after a sleeper bus they were traveling in overturned early Tuesday morning. Several other students sustained injuries in the incident.

The students were reportedly returning from a sports fest at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab, when the accident occurred. According to initial reports, the bus lost control and overturned near Surpaliya in Nagaur.

Nagaur’s Surpaliya police station house officer, Siya Ram, confirmed that four students suffered severe injuries and were immediately referred to Jodhpur for advanced medical treatment. Others with minor injuries were provided first aid and later transported to Jodhpur in a government-arranged bus. Authorities stated that around 20 students were on board at the time of the accident.

Following the incident, emergency response teams and local authorities rushed to the scene to assist the injured and coordinate rescue efforts. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, though officials are investigating whether factors like driver fatigue, speeding, or road conditions played a role.

Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari expressed her condolences on social media platform X, mourning the loss of young lives and extending her support to the injured and their families.

The incident has sparked discussions about the safety of student travel and the need for stricter regulations on private buses used for interstate trips. Meanwhile, NLU Jodhpur has yet to issue an official statement regarding the tragedy.
