A consumer forum in Jaipur has issued notices to Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff over allegations of misleading advertising for Vimal Pan Masala. The Jaipur District Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission also served a notice to the manufacturers of the product.
The commission, comprising President Gyarsilal Meena and Member Hemlata Agarwal, has summoned the actors and the company to appear on March 19, either personally or through a representative, to respond to allegations regarding the advertisement’s claim that each grain of the product contains saffron.
The complaint was filed by advocate Yogendra Singh Badiyal, who argued that the tagline “Daane daane mein hai kesar ka dum” (Every grain has the strength of saffron) is misleading. He contended that, given the significant price difference between saffron and the pan masala product, the claim is deceptive and has led to significant revenue generation for the company.
Badiyal further asserted that the advertisement misleads consumers into believing that the product contains saffron, despite its harmful effects and potential links to serious health risks, including cancer. He has demanded legal action against the actors for endorsing the product and spreading misinformation, as well as an immediate halt to the advertisement campaign.
