The appointment of Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia as Acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has been officially announced by the Central government. This decision comes after the former Acting Chief Justice, Ritu Bahri, was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
Justice Singh’s father held the position of Chief Justice at the Punjab and Haryana High Court from 1978 to 1983 and later at the Patna High Court from 1983 to 1987.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Justice Singh himself was appointed as an additional judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on September 30, 2011, and his position became permanent on January 24, 2014.
